(ATLANTA) - For the fifth consecutive year, the states of Alabama and Georgia will co-host their annual Convention, this year convening the last weekend in April - the 26th through 28th.  The group’s return to Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia, the site of the first joint Convention five years ago, is at The Lodge & Spa at Callaway Gardens, a luxury property managed by Marriott. The Lodge is nestled inside the beautiful 13,000 acre preserve, home to thousands of blooming azaleas, the Day Butterfly Center, featuring over 1,000 butterflies in a tropical setting, two meticulously maintained golf courses ranked among the top courses in the world, biking trails, and so much more. The gardens are dedicated to the stewardship of natural resources and offer unlimited activities in a private setting that is proclaimed to be “the closest thing to heaven.”

GJA-Garden-FebThe weekend’s line-up includes education on both Saturday and Sunday and the ever popular Owner’s Round Table Discussions. The hospitality suite offers an opportunity for fellowship and idea swapping in a relaxed atmosphere. Last year’s event had attendees zip-lining, bike riding and golfing on Saturday afternoon, as well as strolling the gardens and marveling at the butterflies. A banquet Saturday evening and the annual Presidents’ Luncheon round out a busy weekend.

Jared Nadler of Levy’s Fine Jewelry and President of AJA says: “We are excited to offer our annual speaker’s educational program for our Convention, along with an opportunity for the jewelers of Alabama and Georgia to come together.  By hosting this event with fellow retailers from our neighboring states we learn and share challenges and ideas which help to make us better business professionals. I would like to invite every retailer and supplier, member and non-member from any state to join us at Callaway Gardens for a weekend of learning, inspiration and fun.”

Georgia Jewelers immediate past President John Reed, owner of JWR Jewelers in Athens, GA, hopes that jewelers from Georgia and Alabama as well as surrounding states will make Callaway Gardens their spring break destination. “Our two states have had great chemistry coming together for our annual Convention. We have been able to network with jewelers outside our geographical territory and visit destinations (like Sandestin in Florida in 2010) that as a single state we probably would not have held a Convention at.”

Also during the Convention, both Alabama and Georgia Jewelers Associations host their annual Jewelry Design Competition. The Design Competition and awards will take place on Sunday, April 28th. All association members and their employees are invited to submit original designs in a variety of categories.

Both Alabama and Georgia state associations are actively seeking sponsors for the annual event. Companies, service providers and individuals are all welcome to sponsor the event with a variety of sponsorship opportunities available from each state.
