Bill Wismar wins Best of Show in Alabama Jewelers Association Design Contest

The Alabama Jewelers Association (AJA) announced the winners of its annual Design Competition conducted during the Alabama/Georgia Jewelers Associations’ joint Convention held recently in Sandestin, Florida.

Bill Wismar of Metal Benders in Mobile, Alabama was named Best of Show, as well as the People’s Choice Award winner for his hand-fabricated platinum necklace with matching chain, a 16.70 carat crystal opal, and 1.50 carats of diamonds.


Winners of NCJA annual Design Competition announced

The North Carolina Jewelers Association (NCJA) announced the winners of it’s annual Design Competition during the NCJA Annual Meeting, April 24th at the Myrtle Beach Marriott Grande Dunes Resort.  Keith Hipp of Ellis Jewelers in Lexington won Category II and Oz Hefner of Oz’s Jewelers in Hickory won Category III.   The competition recognizes the outstanding work of North Carolina designers.

GJA honors Design Contest winners

(MARIETTA, Ga.) - Jeweler Johnny Johnson won the Best of Show category in the Georgia Jewelers Association (GJA) Annual Jewelry Design Contest. Held recently at the Sandestin Resort in Destin, Florida, the Design Contest took place April 11th during the association’s annual convention.

Johnson, owner of Edward-Johns Jewelers in Marietta, Georgia took top billing. His winning design was a sterling silver and 14K yellow gold cat’s eye rutilated quartz and diamond ring.

Rio Grande congratulates winners of the 10th annual Saul Bell Design Award competition

At a gala celebration dinner held on June 5 during JCK Las Vegas, Rio Grande congratulated the Grand Prize winner and 12 category winners of the tenth annual Saul Bell Design Award competition. From hundreds of submissions, a panel of judges chose 30 finalists and, from these, 12 winners emerged. More than $30,000 in prizes and awards were presented at the Saul Bell Design Award presentation and gala. Winning pieces may be viewed online at www.saulbellaward.com.

North American Jewelers names Scott Knorzer National Sales Manager for Independents

DCA’s Lissa Maxwell named LLS Woman of the Year 2010 in Nashville

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) - On June 3, The Diamond Council of America’s (DCA) Director of Operations, Lissa Maxwell was named The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) 2010 Woman of the Year in Nashville, Tennessee. Maxwell raised $37,155, while a combined $220,000 was raised by all 13 male and female candidates.

The LLS Man & Woman of the Year campaign is an annual nationwide fundraiser. Each dollar raised counts as one vote, and the male and female contestants raising the most money are then named as the Man and Woman of the year for their local chapter. All money raised goes to LLS.
