Black in Jewelry Coalition

The Black in Jewelry Coalition (BIJC) is the first international non-profit membership organization dedicated to the inclusion and advancement of Black professionals within the gem, jewelry, and watch industry. Founded in 2020, BIJC serves as a vital resource hub, providing networking, education, representation, and capital access to foster a more equitable and diverse industry.

Our Mission and Strategies

The BIJC is committed to ending systemic racism and improving diversity by providing tools for professional success. Our core strategies include:

  • Education and Scholarships: Providing access to specialized training, grants, and exclusive scholarships for students and professionals.
  • Representation and Visibility: Increasing the presence of Black professionals in senior leadership and trade shows, and featuring a consumer-facing directory of Black-owned brands.
  • Business Growth: Offering access to capital, mentorship through the Emerging Jewelers Accelerator Program (EJAP), and resources to build relationships with manufacturers and distributors.
  • Advocacy and Inclusivity: Promoting anti-discrimination training and diversity practices in hiring to close the pay gap for the BIPOC community.

Exclusive Member Benefits

Membership in the BIJC offers a supportive community and professional tools to elevate your career:

  • Professional Networking: Connect with industry experts through members-only events, speed mentoring, and regional meetups in major cities like NYC, Miami, and Los Angeles.
  • Resource Access: Entry to a member portal featuring an on-demand webinar hub, job board, and a public-facing membership directory.
