AGTA publishes Retailers’ Reference Guide

(DALLAS) - The American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) has announced they have finished production of the CIBJO Retailers’ Reference Guide, a comprehensive reference book designed to assist sales associates in the retail store in providing correct information to clients.  The book is the result of a collaborative effort by CIBJO members around the globe and covers colored gemstones, diamonds, pearls and precious metals.

“The Retailers’ Reference Guide would be a valuable addition to any company involved in the jewelry business as a reference and as a training tool,” stated Douglas K. Hucker, AGTA CEO.  “It is well organized and can also be shown to the client when discussing specific gemstones.  We feel so strongly about this book that we are providing a free copy to every AGTA member.”

The book is spiral-bound and sections are divided out with easy-to-read tabs for quick navigation.  Key Facts pages discuss the important quality factors for each category.  The guide then focuses on specific gemstones, taking an in-depth look at the characteristics of each, lore, origin, treatments and care.  Using this book, sales associates can quickly answer the majority of client’s questions, instilling confidence and helping to close the sale.

The Retailers’ Reference Guide is available through AGTA for $100 per copy.  AGTA members will receive one complimentary copy.  Additional copies for members of AGTA and other CIBJO-member organizations (i.e. AGS, JVC, JBT) will be $50 each.  There are a limited number of books available from this first publishing run, so if you are interested in obtaining a copy, contact This email address is being protected from spambots.
