JIC’s Fall Trends media frenzy garners attention


(NEW YORK) - Jewelry Information Center (JIC), the consumer education arm of Jewelers of America (JA), kicked off a jewelry-centric media frenzy on September 14, 2011, when spokeswomen Amanda Gizzi and Helena Krodel appeared on over 20 TV morning shows via satellite. They promoted fall fine jewelry and fashion trends in tandem with Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City.

The media tour, meant to garner attention for fine jewelry across the country, was a tool to directly educate consumers about the latest jewelry trends, while emphasizing the uplifting emotions tied to jewelry purchases. Krodel and Gizzi showed TV audiences how to transition fall fashion trends from “The Catwalk to the Sidewalk,” using a selection of JA Supplier Members’ fine jewelry as their examples.

They focused on three trends: oversized necklaces, grey pearls and tassel jewelry. The JA Supplier jewelry was seen by audiences across the country; the segments aired in the following cities: Albuquerque, NM; Baltimore, MD; Bluefield, WV; Cape Coral, FL; Columbus, MS; Columbus, OH; Dayton, OH; Jacksonville, FL; Johnson City, TN; Kearney, NE; Las Vegas, NV; Louisville, KY; Midway, FL; Milwaukee, WI; Mt. Pleasant, SC; Omaha, NE; Palm Desert, CA; Panama City, FL; San Antonio, TX; Shreveport, LA; Toledo, OH; Tucson, AZ; Tulsa, OK and Wausau, WI.

That same day, Krodel appeared on The Knot LIVE – The-Knot.com’s web-based television station with a cult following. The segment married fashion trends with bridal as Krodel highlighted the best ways to incorporate colored gemstones into wedding-day attire. Gizzi, JIC’s in-house bridal expert, also taped a segment about trends in engagement rings and wedding bands to air on TheKnot.com at a future date. Next, Krodel appeared live on NBC’s affiliate station WVIT-TV in Hartford, CT, on September 26th also speaking about fall fashion. All segments featured JA Supplier Members’ jewelry pieces.
