Designer Trend Alert! Hottest new 2015 styles

An inside scoop on what leading designers see trending now for 2015 – the top trends, styles, colors and a sneak peek at what they’re launching for this year. Take a tip from those who have their fingers on the pulse of the industry. Here’s what you’ll be seeing at shows and on the runways – and what you’ll be wanting for your store!

Nina Nguyen

Known for: fashion forward designs reflecting cutting edge style at affordable price points manufactured in her native Vietnam

Mia Nguyen

“We’re seeing some really fun trends for 2015! Geometric shapes are trending as a base for other trends. Not just the art deco look but also the mod look of the ‘60s embrace these shapes. The excitement about gold jewelry is also refreshing to see. All of the gold lovers will have plenty of options in 2015.

Our upcoming 2015 collection embraces the layering and personalizing trend. We love seeing people layer multiple strands of both short and long necklaces. Birthstone necklaces with different charm options will not only be on trend but allow women to have fun with jewelry and show their personality through layering and enhancers.”

Trend alert: Long necklaces, layering, organic shaped gems such as slices and druzy, jewelry worn in non-traditional ways (such as necklaces as bracelets, multi-finger rings, ring-bracelet combos, non-matched earrings), jewelry with a story

Puja Bordia,

Trésor Collection

Known for: Elegant couture collections of gems in refined, innovative designs of 18 karat gold

Mia Bordia

“In 2015 we’ll see a lot of collar bib necklaces, big cuffs, statement rings, ear cuffs and knuckle rings. Big gem earrings as well as irregular earrings will be big this year!

Look for shades of blue including aquamarine, sapphires, blue topaz and tanzanite. Marsala, Pantone’s color of the year, is sure to be front and center. Trending gems include morganite, tsavorite and mandarin garnet, ruby, rose quartz and sunstone.”

Trend alert: High karat gold, colored gem slices, fresh innovative couture design, statement pieces

Barbara Garwood

Known for: Jewelry suites in vibrant colors with intricate fashion forward vermeil manufactured by women artisans in Mongolia. Artsy, ethnic yet versatile vibe. Socially conscious manufacture

Mia Garwood

“Yea! The price of gold has been coming down. But it’s still expensive. Retailers who have ventured into silver are now interested in vermeil as an alternative to gold. I’m working in beautiful jewel tones with teal topaz, iolite and garnets mixed together in my filigree vermeil. The new mixed metals are easier to expense than gold… and fun to sell! It’s very ‘in fashion’ to mix materials. Adding a showcase of artsy jewelry can make your high-end store less intimidating too. I’m doing larger pieces with bigger gemstones because they are in silver or vermeil – what everyone wants now. Huge jewelry is captured fabulously in less expensive materials and using semi-precious stones.”

Trend tip from Barbara to retailers: I know you are worried about your reputation as a gold vendor! However, other metals just might turn out to be something you can continue selling to a new group of customers that will come to you for their more expensive purchases down the road. Try some!

Masis Hagopian, Makur

Known for: Signature morganite collection in rose gold and diamonds, new mixed metals collection with blackened silver

Mia Makur

“In 2015 we are seeing more collections of mixed metals. Our new collection combines the classic with the contemporary by combining silver and rose gold embellished with diamonds. Sometimes the simplest things make the most impact. At Makur Designs the basic ideas of color, form and texture – while seemingly subtle – join together to create something extraordinary.”

Trend alert: Morganite, rose gold, blackened and mixed metals
