First-ever Smart Jewelry Show Dallas is a holiday hit

Holiday-themed education combined with top exhibitors featured

(CHICAGO) - The first-ever Smart Jewelry Show Dallas wrapped up on Monday, September 10, with retail attendees and exhibitors both declaring the show a success.

“I met a few new designers I’d never heard of before, and we picked up a few interesting new lines,” said first-time Smart Show retailer attendee Connie Stagner of Acori Diamonds & Design in Friendswood, TX. “It was good to get ideas from other jewelers.”

Exhibitors were equally positive about the opportunity to bring their products to a long under-served market, with many already planning their return in 2013.

“Frankly, it’s been a very, very good show,” said Peter Konidas with Metalsmiths Sterling. “The buyers at this show are really focused. They know what they want. For us, that’s good because we get business done.”

In addition to the great buying opportunities, retailers were treated to a wealth of holiday-themed education sessions and interactive exhibits featuring top experts in sales, merchandising, social media, and more.

And, just as at The Smart Show in Chicago, the Dallas show hosted the country’s top bench jewelers in its Bench Pressure Challenge. In the CAD Challenge, Brett Edmondson of Besco Custom Jewelers in College Station, TX, took home top honors. Later, Jason Marchiafava of J. Fava in Allentown, PA, was crowned champ of the All-Around Challenge, which featured four experts in two-hour engraving, setting and wax carving competitions.

As the show drew to a close, The Smart Show management team was upbeat about the outcome and the show’s future.

“We left Dallas with a renewed sense of energy and excitement, full of ideas to make the Smart Show Dallas even more successful for 2013,” said Jim Reed, show director. “We have established a solid foundation from which we can grow the show’s importance and make it the must-exhibit, must-attend event for vendors and retailers in the Southwest!”
