Retailer Roundtable Q: What’s your policy for handling holiday gift returns?

December 1, 2020

“As a family owned and operated business, we take pride in having a strong connection with our community. Our main goal is always to keep our customers happy and satisfied with their experience in our store! As the holidays approach, we know that many people will come in to purchase gifts for their friends and family. Jewelry is very personal, so it can be hard to know exactly what type of jewelry your loved one will like. Therefore, we expect some returns around the holidays. We offer a full exchange on jewelry purchases. Our customers can rest assured that if someone is not 100% satisfied with their gift, they can come in with the gift (in new condition) and their original receipt and pick out something they love! We also offer ring sizing at a discount for items purchased from us!”

“Our return policy throughout the year is that unworn jewelry can be returned within 14 days or can be exchanged, or receive store credit, for up to 30 days. During the holiday season we accept returns up to two weeks after Christmas, and exchanges/store credit through the end of January for purchases starting from Black Friday. Special orders and custom pieces are not returnable. We are always willing to work with people though; a bad return is better than a bad review.”

“We use the same policy handling holiday’s returns every day at our store. Refunds are permitted ten days from date of purchase with a receipt, if not used or worn, on all jewelry and watches. We offer a 30-day return policy on diamond purchases. With exchanges we offer 30 days with a receipt and it is in its original condition. Customers with special/custom orders are non-returnable nor exchangeable. We offer layaway with 10% down per item for a one-year layaway period. Payment terms are every 30 days.  If the customer cancels the order a store credit is given minus a $5 restocking fee.”

Paul Yale/Owner

North Wilkesboro, NC

“We are very fortunate and do not see many returns at all. We do offer 30 days from the date of purchase and at Christmas time 30 days from December 25th. I find the amount of returns that turn out to be up-sells far outweigh the refunds. We try to make the return as easy as the purchase, giving the best customer service possible. After all, we want our customers to wear our jewelry so people ask where they got it acting as little billboards for our business.”
