(ATLANTA) - The spotlight is on learning as the Atlanta Jewelry Show gears up for its Fall 2018 Pre-Show Conference and AJS U education program, August 4 - 6 at the Cobb Galleria Centre. A tremendous selection of presentations and seminars will be available to AJS attendees over the course of four days, beginning with the Pre-Show Conference on August 3.
Cindy Chandler, GG, Director of Education and Sponsorships for the Atlanta Jewelry Show stated: “The jewelry business shifts constantly, demanding that the retail jeweler must make the most of the technology available to create custom designs, keep social media content exciting, and carefully manage business. Another challenge is to engage the customer with the process of jewelry making and the story telling that goes with it. The content of the Atlanta Show sessions addresses each of these responsibilities and opportunities.”
The pre-show conference schedule kicks off on Friday, August 3, and includes a Lunch and Learn session presented by Jason Lemaire and Tammy Lail. Tammy and Jason will cover information on how to market your services, effective techniques for selling repairs, and the risk associated with Lab grown diamonds.
Back to back jewelry photography sessions will also be available on August 3. The SMART photography sessions will give you a new perspective on capturing stunning images of jewelry as well as special moments with your customers. Instructors from the Atlanta School of Photography will show you how to take great photographs with the convenience of using your cell phone camera.
On Saturday August 4, Learning Lab 1 on the show floor welcomes Blaine Lewis and instructors from The New Approach School for Jewelers for a full day of learning. They will cover ornamental engraving and specialty stone setting, and share tips and tricks for setting micro pavé, princess cuts and the fishtail style of setting.
On Sunday, Learning Lab 1 will be the setting of an Invitational CAD Challenge, hosted by Joel McFadden the newly appointed Jeweler Mentor of MJSA. The expert CAD designers will show off how they make it all come together for two special projects. One project will test their technical skill and the other will show off their design creativity and style.
The expanded program continues to deliver a wide variety of engaging and educational opportunities for attendees, and reaffirms the investment and commitment AJS has made to ongoing education within the jewelry community.
The August 2018 education program is generously sponsored by the Diamond Council of America, the Diamond Producers Association, Synchrony Financial and the Silver Promotion Service. The program is also supported by the membership of the Southern Jewelry Travelers Association.
