The COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause major upheavals in trade shows and events throughout the jewelry industry. Within the last few days the Las Vegas JCK and Luxury shows have been postponed, MJSA Expo has been rescheduled and AGS Conclave has been cancelled.
“After careful consideration and comprehensive discussions, we have decided that the JCK & Luxury shows will be postponed to later in the year due to the growing concerns over public health and safety and the escalation of COVID-19,” JCK announced. “As soon as we work out the details for a new date in 2020 for JCK & Luxury, we will immediately share them with all of you. We expect to be able to do so shortly... We look forward to bringing the industry together again and creating a memorable event later in the year when it is safe to do so.”

MJSA Expo announced it has secured new dates for its 2020 show in New York City. The Expo will now run Sunday and Monday, Oct. 25-26, and will once again occupy Hall D in the Javits Center, co-locating with the JA New York Fall retail show.
“We were able to retain the same hall, which will ensure a minimum of disruption for our exhibitors and make for an easier transition,” said David W. Cochran, president/CEO of MJSA, the show’s organizer. “Expo will be reduced by a day, but its weekend/weekday balance still provides the greatest flexibility for buyers to schedule appointments and visit.”
In addition, MJSA is exploring new online opportunities, such as webcasts, podcasts, and videos, through which Expo exhibitors can promote and educate buyers about their products.
“Face-to-face conversations will always be a critical part of the sales process, and Expo has long played an important role in facilitating such connections,” Cochran added. “Our goal is to expand the ‘Expo experience’ through multiple channels, so buyers and sellers can connect throughout the year.”

The American Gem Society (AGS) announced that Conclave, slated for April 27-29 in Denver, Colorado, has been cancelled.
As Conclave is core to the membership’s ongoing education, the Society is exploring options for a virtual mini-conference for later this year. Additionally, the Society will enhance its online learning center, the AGS PRO, to further increase the AGS community’s channels of professional development.
The 2021 Conclave will be held in Louisville, Kentucky, April 26-28 at the Omni Louisville Hotel. More information will be forthcoming as plans shift from 2020 to 2021.
“Conclave is more than an event, it’s an experience,” said Katherine Bodoh, CEO of the American Gem Society and AGS Laboratories. “We are tremendously saddened by our decision, but we saw no other choice. The health of our members is a priority.”
