“Thailand’s Magic Hands” theme to showcase Thai jewelry craftsmanship
The Thai Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Ministry of Commerce, will host the 63rd edition of Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair (BGJF) under the theme of “Thailand’s Magic Hands”, which highlights Thailand’s cultural heritage and the exquisite craftsmanship of internationally renowned Thai artisans. The Fair will be an important platform to promote Thai entrepreneurs and SMEs (small and medium enterprises) to expand their business to the global market. It is expected to attract more than 20,000 attendees from 130 countries across the globe. The fair will be held during February 20 – 24 at Challenger Hall 1-3, Impact Muang Thong Thani in Bangkok.

Ms. Banjongjitt Angsusingh, Director-General of the DITP, Ministry of Commerce, stated: “Last year, Thai gems and jewelry industry was one of the most important sectors of the country’s economy. It helped create jobs for the industrial workforce and generate income to the craftsmen, up to 1.2 million people. In 2018, the exports of gems and jewelry products, including gold, valued up to 383,713 million baht (USD 12.18B), or accounted for 4.74% of all exports of the country.”

The 63rd Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair, will feature over 800 leading Thai and international manufacturers, exhibitors and exporters displaying all types of products in over 1,800 booths. Organizers project his event is expected to have approximately 20,000 businessmen and foreign buyers attending, with at-event orders expected to value 2,400 million baht (USD 76M).
At the Fair, buyers and visitors will experience inspirational activities and exhibitions as well as new trading opportunities, from The New Faces – highlighting Thai SMEs from all regions, The Niche Showcase – exhibiting niche jewelry trends, The Jewelers – a group of designers who focus on creative jewelry-making, and Innovation and Design Zone products with innovation and special materials. There will also be other interesting activities such as knowledge sharing seminars, business consultancy, gem and jewelry making demonstration, quality check services, etc.
