For the 6th consecutive year, the states of Alabama and Georgia will co-host their annual convention (to be held April 11-13, 2014) at The Lodge & Spa at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia. The groups return to Callaway, the site of the two group’s first joint convention five years ago, at the luxury property managed by Marriott, promises to be a fun filled weekend that will send attendees home with new business tools and new friends.
The Lodge is nestled inside the beautiful 13,000 acre preserve, home to thousands of blooming azaleas, the Day Butterfly Center featuring over 1,000 butterflies in a tropical setting, two meticulously maintained golf courses ranked among the top courses in the world, biking trails, and so much more. The gardens are dedicated to the stewardship of natural resources and offer unlimited activities in a private setting that is proclaimed to be “the closest thing to heaven.”
The weekend’s education line-up includes Shane Decker, president of Ex-Sell-Ence, Shane Decker Sales Academy. Decker is known for teaching retailers the anatomy of a sale, how to handle objections, closing skills, the art of the turnover, to recognize sales profiles and much more. His sales secrets have been published in numerous trade publications and he has provided much sought-after sales training for more than 3,000 stores worldwide.
Also on the education program will be marketing expert Jim Ackerman, owner of Ascend Marketing Inc. Ackerman is well known for helping small to medium-size business owners and entrepreneurs dramatically increase sales and profits, and reduce costs through smarter, results-driven marketing and advertising. He promises to help business people apply his 12 Vital Strategies to “Unclog” their business revenue streams.
You don’t want to miss these two exciting programs, and you definitely do not want to miss the ever popular Owner’s Round Table Discussions.
Jared Nadler of Levy’s Fine Jewelry and President of AJA says: “We are excited to offer an outstanding educational program for our 2014 convention, along with another opportunity for the jewelers of Alabama and Georgia to come together. By hosting this event with fellow retailers from our neighboring state we learn and share challenges and ideas which help to make us better business professionals. I would like to invite every retailer and supplier, member and non-member from any state to join us at Callaway Gardens for a weekend of learning, inspiration and fun.”
Georgia Jewelers president Jan Fergerson, owner of Ford, Gittings and Kane Jewelers in Rome, GA hopes that jewelers from Georgia and Alabama as well as surrounding states will make Callaway Gardens their spring break destination. “Our two states have had great chemistry coming together for our annual convention. We have been able to network with jewelers outside our geographical territory and visit destinations (like Sandestin in Florida in 2010) that as a single state we probably would not have held a convention at.”
Also during the convention both Alabama and Georgia Jewelers Associations host their annual jewelry design competition. The design competition and awards will take place on Sunday, April 13. All association members and their employees are invited to submit original designs in a variety of categories.
Both Alabama and Georgia state associations are actively seeking sponsors for the annual event. Companies, service providers and individuals are all welcome to sponsor the event with a variety of sponsorship opportunities available from each state. In addition, the state of Alabama is offering an opportunity to advertise in their 2014 AJA Yearbook.
