From the Runway to Roberson’s
(LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) – Award winning luxury jeweler, Roberson’s Fine Jewelry, welcomed women customers to the first-ever trend event, Runway to Roberson’s, on September 24, at their Little Rock store. Other guests in attendance included prestigious out-of-state jewelers, as well as local media and top jewelry blogger, Danielle Miele of Gem Gossip.
The private event featured small group trend forecast discussions with two special guest luxury experts, The Robey Partnership’s, Nancy Robey and Luxury Brand Group’s, Jen Cullen Williams. The event also gave customers the opportunity to ask questions about the trends, try on jewelry and ultimately purchase the on-trend designs. Customers arrived at scheduled times throughout the day and walked the red-carpet outside of the store, posed for photos on the step and repeat, and later took photos of their jewelry-adorned hands on the “Jewel-Cam” – a mani-cam like the one seen on “E! Entertainment” during award shows.
Store owner and President, Trish Roberson stated: “Roberson’s niche is confident women who buy for themselves. Our goal for this event was to show our women customers how we are working in advance of the trends, so they can be at the forefront before these trends hit. This is how we buy for our customers to keep them not only au courant, but ahead of the curve.”
Trish Roberson and Vice President, Julie Maddox, as well as the Roberson’s Fine Jewelry team introduced the event and guest luxury market experts, Nancy Robey and Jen Cullen Williams.
Based in New York City, Nancy Robey is the founder of The Nancy Robey Partnership, providing strategic advisory services for the fine jewelry and luxury markets. As a marketing professional, she has held key executive positions with leading global brands including Tiffany & Co. and De Beers Diamonds, and launched the first ever boutique trade show dedicated to elite fine jewelry designers, known today as Couture. Jen Cullen Williams is the Managing Director of Los Angeles-based luxury and jewelry brand communications agency, Luxury Brand Group. Jen has garnered placements in such media outlets as “Extra,” “E! News,” “Dancing with the Stars,” Glamour, Marie Claire, Harper’s Bazaar, Town & Country, W and Vogue – with celebrity placements featured on Rihanna, Cameron Diaz, Rachel Bilson and Selena Gomez, to name only a few.
At the event, customers learned how trends originate and how trends are reality based, which then become imbedded into our culture, infiltrating the apparel, accessories and home décor markets. In addition, customers explored how the ‘Boomer’ and ‘Millennial’ generations interpret and adapt these trends to their own personal style. With the use of visual props, model photography and the Trend Book produced by TRENDVISION + Forecasting, an independent international research observatory, the four major trends included: Airy Perspective – The Essentialist, Dramatic Poetry – The Romantic, Global Delights – The Exoticist and Digital East – The Digitalist.
Each trend was illustrated by Roberson’s Fine Jewelry’s curated collection of elite jewelry designers including: Armenta, Roberto Coin, Erica Courtney, Suzy Landa, Jewels by Star, Gurhan, Arman, Monica Rich Kosann, John Hardy, Jude Frances, Steven Webster, Penny Preville, Gumuchian, Lana, Stephen Dweck, A. Link and Susan Sadler. Many designers presented advance product exclusives just for the event.
Continuing with the red-carpet runway theme, customers sipped on signature cocktails and dined on lite bites with local flavor. A “Jewel-Cam” was available for guests to try on their favorite pieces, then snap photos and post on their personal social media pages with the dedicated hashtags #RunwaytoRobersons and #TrendingatRobersons.
“Every day we strive to offer our customers access to the most coveted jewelry from across the globe. We are forward thinking and innovative, and it is our mission to search out and bring the international trends to our local market,” Maddox said. “Our customers want to know what’s happening, before it’s happening, and we are their resource. This elegant and exciting trend-focused fete was an opportunity for our clients to learn and experience the trends in an intimate and interactive way.”
To further include the millennial generation, mothers brought their daughters to the event, and top jewelry blogger, Danielle Miele, of GemGossip.com – a premiere jewelry and watch blog – made an appearance. Danielle, based in Nashville, Tennessee, created the trending jewelry hashtag #ShowMeYourRings and was recently named a top jewelry blogger to follow by Lucky Magazine.
