(CHARLOTTE, N.C.) – The luxurious Ballantyne Hotel and Spa was busy August 24-26 with the annual summer Southeastern Jewelers Organization (SJO) Show. The well-established buying group’s event delighted members and vendors alike. SJO reports attendance exceeded expectations to create a positive buzz throughout the 3-day event.
“This was our highest attendance ever, with members across the east coast enjoying superb vendors and a great resort,” stated President Paul Down
“The SJO show has a nice sense of community. I always love the experience there – the vendors and jewelers are wonderful” said Joanna Hudzik, owner of Haywood Jewelers, in Smith Mountain Lake, VA.
During the fun-filled weekend members and vendors enjoyed themselves at the annual golf outing, the SJO Welcome Reception, and the Saturday Night Gala.
The SJO Show provided members with relevant seminars presented by renowned trainer Shane Decker and Terry Chandler, President/CEO of the Diamond Council of America. Chandler, along with his wife Cindy, G.G., delivered a wide-ranging conversation about the differences in diamond grading reports, when they should be used, and the issues – positive and negative – surrounding them. The session included a question and answer period to allow members input and have their questions answered.
SJO is an organization dedicated to providing strong independent retailers with increased profitability and operating efficiency. The group was founded in 1962 to increase the gross margins of jewelers by negotiating better deals from quality vendors. In addition, the group provides centralized billing, account management support and two buying shows (January and August) each year.
