Thailand’s Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Ministry of Commerce, has announced plans to build on the success of the recently completed Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair (BGJF) Special Edition – ‘On Ground to Online Exhibition’ with a hybrid version of the 66th Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair next year.
Initiated by DITP, BGJF Special Edition – On Ground to Online Exhibition was held November 2-4, 2020 via www.bkkgems-vts.com as part of the Ministry of Commerce’s “Refill-Reform-Refine” strategy to drive the economy and exports through digital transformation.
The event marked the first time that more than 600 exhibitors in the gems and jewelry industry showcased their products on an online platform, creating worldwide business opportunities for the BGJF exhibitors. The event was a combination of a virtual exhibition and online business matching.
BGJF reported up to 819 business matching sessions were set up within three days of the event, 489 of which were rated successful, and generated more than $30 million US in revenue. The platform also welcomed visitors from 1,568 companies with 8,737 unique page views. DITP expressed satisfaction with the results, considering that the online event was held for the first time.
To further the success of the event, DITP is now planning to organize a hybrid version of the 66th Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair, combining the offline and online platforms together between 23-27 February 23-27, 2021 at Challenger Hall 1-3, IMPACT Muang Thong Thani.
