Theme for Feb. 2-3 event in Tucson: Pathways to Sustainable Jewelry
(NEW YORK) – The organizers of the Jewelry Industry Summit published the impressive agenda and speaker roster for the upcoming Jewelry Industry Summit taking place in Tucson, Feb, 2-3, 2019. An international array of expert and experienced industry members will share their ideas and recommendations for actions that jewelers can take now to sustain the supply chain for jewelry products.
Topics include panels on engagement by small jewelry businesses on responsible sourcing, information on the impact of blockchain technology on responsible practices, initiatives addressing mining of fair-trade gold and gems, and more. A highlight will be the showing of the film “River of Gold,” a documentary film on the artisanal mining of gold in the Amazon. A panel discussion will follow the film and update the audience on actions currently being taken in the industry to address gold mining challenges. And, progress of various initiatives previously developed at Summits will be reported, and new initiatives will be discussed.
Said Cecilia Gardner, Board Chair of the Jewelry Industry Summit: “Our focus is to provide tools and resources for jewelers to take action now to sustain the entire supply chain for jewelry products. From producer to retailer, everyone can take a positive step towards a more responsible supply chain – we aim to let people know what they can do now! The presentations at the Summit will allow everyone to leave with a plan to engage and improve immediately!”
