With the successful year jewelers had in 2021, storeowners are wanting to keep that momentum going, but many are realizing that they have hit the ceiling of what their organization can do without a solid management plan for growth. On January 11, 2022 Brad Huisken and Jimmy DeGroot will begin training store managers how to take the business to the next level, even if the economy should take a downturn.
The class is a 12 week course taking managers through key metrics to look for and manage, how to effectively communicate with their people, how to run effective meetings and training, how to coach on the sales floor and several other best practices for successful organizations.
DeGroot and Huisken have been teaching the class for years and each class takes on a new approach as the needs of the students change. “In one group we had several smaller owner/operator stores, in another it was larger, multi-store independents,” said Huisken.
“So we’re able to change per the group and help these individuals with their specific challenges.”
The class is held for one hour per week on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 am Central Time via Zoom. Each week an assignment is given and the storeowners are copied in on both the video recording of the class as well as the assignments. “We want owners directly tied in so that they can encourage their managers and stay plugged in. We are changing how many businesses are run and we need ownership on board with the process,” says DeGroot.
