(ATTLEBORO, Mass.) – In a move that creates a unique buying opportunity, in 2016 MJSA Expo New York will move to the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and run simultaneously with the JA New York Spring Show, March 13-15.
In addition, while both shows will continue to be run independently, MJSA and JA New York have agreed to honor each other’s badges, thereby enabling qualified attendees of either show easy access to all exhibitors and educational sessions.
MJSA Expo New York, the oldest and largest U.S. trade show dedicated to professional jewelry making and design, since 2010 had taken place at the Hilton New York, where it had solid success – the most recent show saw a 3 percent increase in year-to-year attendance. However, said MJSA President/CEO David W. Cochran, the opportunity to move to the Javits during the same dates as the JA New York show “presented a win for the buyers and the exhibitors of the two shows, something we simply couldn’t pass up.
“Although Expo has enjoyed success at the Hilton, having it run at the same time as JA New York more than doubles the number of potential buyers,” he said. “Given the complementary nature of our offerings – JA New York’s emphasis on fine finished jewelry, our unique focus on supplies to the trade – we expect that, in particular, retailers with manufacturing, design, and repair capabilities will now have even more reason to make our shows a destination.
“We’ve heard consistently that the number of trade shows in March forces buyers to make hard decisions about which to attend. By running simultaneously, MJSA and JA New York have made those decisions a little easier.”
“The co-location of MJSA and JA New York is a natural fit,” said Drew Lawsky, group show director for JA New York. “We feel strongly that having both shows running in tandem at the Javits during our March dates will have a tremendously positive impact on all of our exhibitors, and will streamline the process of attending both of these important events.”
MJSA Expo New York will take place in the River Pavilion in the Crystal Place, which offers panoramic views of the Hudson River and is located immediately adjacent to the JA New York entrance. Admission to both shows will be free. In addition, on two days MJSA Expo will open early to permit JA New York exhibitors to shop the show conveniently.
