North Carolina and South Carolina jewelers will return to “horse around” together May 15-17 at the Marriott Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach, SC. The same dates as Triple Crown horse race Preakness Weekend! The North Carolina Jewelers Association and the South Carolina Jewelers Association are together again for a weekend of relaxation, business, education and visiting with industry friends.
Saturday morning roundtables will be followed by a vertical gardening seminar. Sunday seminars include Sara Yood of the Jewelers Vigilance Committee presenting “Disclosure and Transparency in Diamond Grading” and Brad Simon of Internet4Jewelers presenting “Mobile Marketing and Facebook Business Updates.”
In your free time, you can enjoy one of three pools, 10% off spa services, beach time, shopping and the annual golf tournament. Prizes will be awarded for the winning team, closest to the pin, and longest drive.
No horse race is complete without proper chapeaux! The Grand Prize of the weekend will be given to the Best Hat at the Saturday Evening Gala.
Jewelers for Children was selected as the Associations’ 2015 charity and Saturday evening’s fundraising efforts will benefit the same. If you would like to donate to the weekend’s event, please contact the NCJA or SCJA offices.
Mack Thomas (Infinger’s Jewelry, Walterboro, SC) attended last year and said: “It was a great weekend at the beautiful Marriott in Myrtle Beach. We all know that we are in a relationship business so it only makes sense to spend time together so we can grow together. As a younger person in the business, I learned so much from talking with other jewelers. I won’t miss it now.”
Sponsors of the event may exhibit during Saturday’s Race and Reception. Sponsorship information can be obtained by calling the Association office at 919-789-7979.
Both states Design Competitions will be judged during the weekend. All association members are invited to submit original designs in a variety of categories.
The entire weekend is a terrific opportunity to get away in a casual, relaxed setting and exchange ideas with other jewelers. The Marriott Grande Dunes is a beautiful four diamond, oceanfront property.
