OJA seminar to offer sales techniques, JA certification opportunity
The Oklahoma Jewelers Association (OJA) invites retail jewelers in Oklahoma and surrounding states to attend a seminar developed to enhance sales techniques targeting today’s multiple generations of jewelry buyers.
Lynn Baldwin and Darci Aselage, two veteran retail jewelers, and sales trainers with The Edge Retail Academy, will be presenting three hours of sales concepts, impressions and assessments at the seminar, which is being held at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Oklahoma City, on Sunday, April 19th. As a team they will help jewelers – owners, managers and sales associates – identify the needs of their clients, and at the same time know how to recognize the line between being proactive and being pushy.
Baldwin, whose track record covers over 30 years managing retail jewelry businesses, pointed out: “As retail jewelers we need to face the fact that the days of just standing behind the counter in our stores and waiting for the clients to come in and hand you their money are gone! At the same time, we need to understand that our clients today do not want to be sold. They are much more savvy, but they still love to have you share information about new ideas, concepts and products.”
Aselage, who was honored by the Women’s Jewelry Association (WJA) with their Midwest Rising Star Award, added: “Perhaps more than in any other retailer, jewelers must recognize that the values of the various generations who are now, or will soon be our market are different. In our seminar we will provide guides that will help identify the needs of your clients, no matter their age, and strategies to follow in proactively helping you get a sale, and also build a relationship.”
Following the seminar, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Jewelers of America and OJA are offering jewelers an onsite opportunity to verify their professional status by taking the exam for Jewelers of America’s renowned Sales or Management certifications. Don’t miss this special opportunity to demonstrate your sales or management proficiency through this nationally recognized certification.
