In accordance with these exciting changes, the MAJA could think of no better friend or loyal supporter of the MAJA or the MAJS than Keely Grice to bestow this prestigious jewelry industry award upon.

The Legends Award is presented annually at the MAJS in August to an exhibitor who has demonstrated excellence and professionalism in the industry.

The Award selection is based on leadership, demonstration of business excellence and ethics, and an enduring contribution to the overall mission of the MAJA and the MAJS. It will be presented at the opening of the MAJS Saturday, August 21st by the Board of Directors of the MAJA.

Keely began his career in the jewelry industry in the late ‘70s on the road in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and Washington D.C. working for ArtCarved, a division of the Lenox Company. While living in Northern Virginia, Keely met his future wife Beth, and thus began an odyssey that has lasted over 30 years and is still going strong.

Keely returned to his hometown of Charlotte, NC working for the Columbia Diamond Ring Company and began to establish himself as an energetic member of the jewelry community in the south.  He and other associates he had met at the Atlanta Jewelry Show founded the Eastern Jewelers Travelers Association and the Charlotte Jewelers Market where he served as an officer and then as president of the Association.

During this time he was introduced to and worked with John Seegers who had a small cabinet business that also provided jewelry shows with showcases.  John offered to sell his small cabinet business to Keely in 1984, and thus was born Grice Showcase & Display Manufacturing. Inc.

Keely’s wife, Beth, immersed herself into the business providing sales, office support and strategic direction for the company.  During the early years of the company, Beth provided support and encouragement as well as the legacy of two beautiful daughters, Nicole and Stephanie.

Keely credits Beth, Nicole and Stephanie for much of the early success of the company and the motivation to succeed.  Even during the dark days of a fire (total loss) and a brush with bankruptcy of his business, Keely found strength in his family to persevere, and literally from the ashes started over.  Grice Showcase & Display Manufacturing has grown from the early days of a 12,000 square foot cabinet shop to a modern 60,000 square foot facility that employs 24 associates. They celebrated their 25th anniversary in October 2009.  This is truly an American success story of a “family” business.

In the modern era of the growth and expansion of Grice Showcase, Keely attributes much of his success to his vice president, Donna Harris.  Donna provides an energy and loyalty to Grice Showcase and the staff that is a key component to the company’s ongoing success.

Keely is humble when talking about the success of his company, and prefers to give the credit of his success to the hard work and dedication of his staff and family. However, much of the success of Grice Showcase & Display must be given to Keely for his untiring participation in industry groups, jewelry shows and events, his willingness to serve as an officer and director of industry organizations, his contribution to the Atlanta Jewelry Show and the 24KT Club and his readiness to embrace professional relationships over so many years and to assemble the elements of business relationships and family business practices into a formula for accomplishment.

Keely is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and considers himself a “True Blue” Tarheel.  He is a golf enthusiast and a dog lover, but most of all a commensurate professional.

Keely’s dedication to family, friends and the men and women who have helped Grice Showcase & Display grow and prosper is only exceeded by his intense desire to provide excellent service to his customers.

Keely believes in the simple business philosophy, “if you work hard, are respectful to people and satisfy your customer, good things will follow.”  Clearly that philosophy has been a formula for success for Grice Showcase & Design Mfg. Inc.
