The Texas Jewelers Association (TJA) has announced the winners of their 2015 Design Competition. The Competition took place during the annual TJA Convention held in San Antonio.
Daniel Allen of C. Kirk Root Designs in Austin, Texas took home the Best in Show award for his gorgeous tsavorite garnet and diamond pendant design and Priyanka Murthy of Arya Esha was awarded 1st Place in Category 1. Additional winners included: Ziad Noshie, Almaza Jewelers in Houston; Peter Barr, Peter Barr Designing Jewelers in Corpus Christi; and Dan Schwieterman, Daniel Allen, Ben George and Stephanie Budde all of C., Kirk Root Designs in Austin.
TJA President-Elect Brad Koen, who oversees the Design Competition stated: “Our 23rd Annual Design Competition was a special one for us because of the number of new and first-time entrants that took part this year. Texas is blessed with an abundance of talented jewelry artisans, and it is a pleasure for me to see the beautiful items this community turns out consistently, year after year.”
The 2015 Convention also featured a highly successful silent auction which raised over $2000 for the TJA Scholarship program.
2016 marks 110th Anniversary
The Texas Jewelers Association is proud to be celebrating their 110th anniversary in 2016. “2016 marks the 110th anniversary of the Texas Jewelers Association, and we have plans to commemorate this wonderful event all throughout the year,” said TJA President Jeanne Roe. The TJA is kicking off the year with a membership drive, and Roe will be hosting a Meet & Greet in Tucson, AZ for TJA members and friends on Wednesday, February 3 at the El Charro Restaurant from 6 pm – 8 pm. Plans for other 2016 association events have yet to be announced.
