DCA’s Lissa Maxwell named LLS Woman of the Year 2010 in Nashville

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) - On June 3, The Diamond Council of America’s (DCA) Director of Operations, Lissa Maxwell was named The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) 2010 Woman of the Year in Nashville, Tennessee. Maxwell raised $37,155, while a combined $220,000 was raised by all 13 male and female candidates.

The LLS Man & Woman of the Year campaign is an annual nationwide fundraiser. Each dollar raised counts as one vote, and the male and female contestants raising the most money are then named as the Man and Woman of the year for their local chapter. All money raised goes to LLS.

NCJA elects officers, board of direct

Stacey Sears of Holland Jewelers in Apex, North Carolina was elected to serve as President of the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Jewelers Association (NCJA).  The announcement was made during the NCJA annual meeting, April 24th at the Myrtle Beach Marriott Grande Dunes Resort.  Sears, a Graduate Gemologist and Master Stone Setter, has served as an officer of the NCJA Board of Directors for the last three years.   Holland Jewelers has been a fixture in the Apex community for 52 years.  Sears is co-owner of the store.

Journalist-Gemologist Diana Jarrett nabs triple nods

Earns three writing awards at 2010 EFMLS Bulletin Editors Contest

(NEW YORK) - The New York Mineralogical Club (NYMC) announced that fellow member and NYMC Bulletin columnist Diana Jarrett received three prestigious awards for articles submitted by NYMC to the Eastern Federation of Mineralogical and Lapidary Societies Inc., (EFMLS) a 60 year old association of over 150 affiliated groups and a membership of 10,000 plus individuals. The EFMLS annual writing competition has several categories including Original-Non Technical Articles and Written Features both of which earned Jarrett awards.

SJTA honors SCAD Student Design Competition winners at Atlanta Jewelry Show

(ATLANTA) - Winners of the annual Student Design Competition hosted by The Atlanta Jewelry Show and the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) were announced at an awards presentation held March 7 during the Atlanta Jewelry Show.  Jewelry designer and special guest judge Wayne Werner presented the awards, which were given in four categories: Art Jewelry, Alternative Materials, CAD/CAM/RP and Sustainable, as well as the top people’s choice award - Best in Show.

Sara Blaine Jewelry wins Atlanta Jewelry Show Best Booth competition

(ATLANTA) - Sara Blaine Jewelry was honored with the Best Booth Award during the March 6-8, 2010 Atlanta Jewelry Show.  Recognizing the one company that led the way in terms of creativity, lighting, display skills and overall booth design, the award was presented on Sunday, March 7.

A panel of industry judges canvassed the show floor on opening day to choose the company that best met the competition criteria.  As contest winners, Sara Blaine Jewelry was recognized with a special sign prominently placed for passing retailers to see.
