(ATLANTA) – The 24 Karat Club Southeastern United States held their bi-annual Membership Meeting on Saturday, February 28th, prior to the opening day of the Southeastern Jewelry Travelers Association’s Atlanta Jewelry Show, at the Cobb Galleria Center in Atlanta, Georgia. At the meeting, brought to order by 24 Karat Club president Mike Fallaize, the membership discussed prospective new members, the awarding of Club scholarships and the annual black tie 24 Karat Club Banquet.
Since its inception, the Club has awarded scholarships to deserving independent retailers throughout the southeast. “This is what our Club is all about,” said Kathy Beall, chair of the Scholarship Committee. Beall announced Marsha Norman of The Jewelry Company in New Bern, North Carolina, Marshall Sanford of Hayes Jewelers in Mobile, Alabama and Candace Wade of Levy’s Fine Jewelry in Birmingham, Alabama as recipients of scholarships for Stuller’s annual Jewelers’ Workshop, held March 27-29, at the company’s headquarters in Lafayette, Louisiana.
The Club has additional scholarships available in 2009. Beall urged Club members to encourage their retail customers to apply. Retailers interested in furthering their professional education should ask a 24 Karat Club member for an application or send an e-mail to email@example.com expressing their interest in a scholarship.
The Club also discussed the move of its highly anticipated black tie Banquet from its traditional winter date to August 8th, the opening day of the 2009 summer Atlanta Jewelry Show. In addition to the new date, this year’s Banquet will be held at a new venue – the beautiful Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. This venue is not only luxurious, but very convenient for Atlanta Jewelry Show attendees, being located less than one mile from the Cobb Galleria Center, site of the Atlanta Show.
Membership Committee chair, Keely Grice informed the Club’s members of several applicants being considered for induction at the 2009 Banquet. The Club has enjoyed significant growth in its membership over the last several years and it appears the trend will continue in 2009.
A cocktail reception was held for Club members, their guests and prospective members on Saturday evening in the High Flyers Lounge on the Show floor of the Atlanta Jewelry Show. Attendees enjoyed cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and live music while networking in a relaxed, festive environment immediately following the first day of the Atlanta Jewelry Show.
