(FERNDALE, Mich.) – Gem Legacy Adventures is hosting its 3rd trip January 6 – 16, 2024 to northern Tanzania and southern Kenya. 13 spots are available. The itinerary includes visiting Gem Legacy initiatives, several artisanal colored gemstone mines, safari inside national parks in both countries, as well as cultural experiences. Trips will also include a service project day at one of the Gem Legacy initiatives.
Gem Legacy Adventures is the for-profit partner of Gem Legacy, a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to supporting vocational training, entrepreneurship, and community development in East African colored gemstone mining regions.
The profits of Gem Legacy Adventures fund Gem Legacy’s nonprofit administrative costs, ensuring it can continue its promise that 100% of every donation goes direct to the initiatives. Travelers are not required to be members of the jewelry industry, although Gem Legacy anticipates interest from members of the jewelry industry who may want to visit gem mining at the source in order to speak more authoritatively about it or to address responsible gem mining questions.
