(CARLSBAD, Calif.) – The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has opened the scholarship application period for merit-based scholarships. Prospective U.S. and international students can apply for scholarships until September 30, 2023. The scholarships awarded for this cycle can be used for courses or programs through June 30, 2024, including for the revamped Graduate Jeweler program that is coming in 2024.
GIA’s diploma and certificate programs are globally recognized and provide professionals with the skills needed for success in the gem and jewelry industry. “We are committed to supporting our students and helping them achieve their dreams which is why GIA awarded $2 million in scholarships this year,” said Duncan Pay, GIA senior vice president of education and chief academic officer. “Through our scholarship programs, we are able to provide financial assistance to students who demonstrate a passion for gemology or the jewelry arts and a commitment to excellence.”
GIA will accept applications through September 30, 2023 for courses or programs that start between January 1 and June 30, 2024. Need-based scholarships are accessible year-round for prospective U.S. students and require a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
GIA has awarded more than $12 million in scholarships since 2015, helping more than 2,500 students study at GIA schools around the world and through online education programs.
