(NEENAH, Wisc.) – Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company has enhanced one of its most popular policyholder benefits by increasing its free, automatic Registered Mail limit to $100,000. In addition, the company increased the free, automatic travel coverage to and from the post office to $125,000. The coverage increases became effective Dec. 1, 2008, for all United States commercial insureds with Jewelers Block, Jewelers Standard, or Pak policies.
“We are offering this higher limit at no additional charge to encourage our insured jewelry businesses to use this safe shipping method,” explained Jeff Mills, vice president of Commercial Lines. “Registered Mail losses are significantly fewer than losses with Express Mail and other shipping carriers,” he added.
Previously, the free, automatic limit for Registered Mail was $50,000, and the free, automatic coverage to and from the post office was $75,000. The free, automatic Express Mail® coverage via United States Postal Service (USPS) remains unchanged at $25,000.
Tracking lost packages
As a benefit of Jewelers Mutual’s priority status with the USPS, commercial policyholders can contact Jewelers Mutual Claim staff if a Registered Mail or Express Mail package fails to be delivered on time and appears to be lost. The Claim staff can then request a manual search within the post office system. This priority search service has located numerous packages that had been misdirected. Requests for package search can be placed via phone or by using the new Shipment Search Request form on the company’s web site, JewelersMutual.com.
Shipping resources
In conjunction with the increased coverage limit, Jewelers Mutual revised two popular print items:
- Shipping with Express Mail and Registered Mail flyer
- Safe Way to Ship poster, which provides recommendations for safely shipping jewelry using the USPS, UPS, FedEx, and other carriers.
To request a copy of these two updated items, send an e-mail to communications@jminsure.com. Be sure to include “shipping flyers” in the subject line and provide your full mailing address.
