Dr. William Kovel is known for his designs that reflect the wonders of ocean life. His Coastal and Island Lifestyle musings are now joined with a creative stroll into the garden.
The Watermelon collection came about after a conversation with Trina Gaither of Gold and Gallery in Cordele, Georgia. When she saw Kovel’s designs she liked them right away. “I absolutely love your work and all that stands behind it,” she said.
Kovel and Trina discussed ideas for new designs that would be relevant to her local clients. She spoke of Cordele as the watermelon capital of the U.S., and a collection was born.
“We have watermelon, peanut, and cotton farmers here, and even though Cordele is a small town, it’s not the price or what the jewelry is made of. More important is great design,” Trina stated.
“The demographics would have you believe that nicer pieces wouldn’t sell – not so. I have had beautiful-artful and precious pieces that found homes almost immediately,” she added.
