JIC announces GEM Awards date and new host

(NEW YORK) - On Friday, January 9, 2009 the Seventh Annual Jewelry Information Center GEM Awards gala will once again take place at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City, its long-standing and elegant location in the heart of Manhattan. Adding to the excitement of the upcoming event’s evening, JIC is proud to announce that Ms. Samantha Harris will be the brand new host and master of ceremonies. Seen on prime time television and currently at the height of her career, Ms. Harris is most well known as the co-host with Tom Bergeron of ABC-TV’s prevailing variety series, “Dancing with the Stars.”

Arkansas Jewelers Association celebrates 69th anniversary at annual Convention

The Arkansas Jewelers Association met on August 15th, 2008, celebrating its 69th anniversary. The 2008 Convention was considered by attendees to be one of the most successful conventions of the organization’s long history.

Speakers for the event included Sue Fritz, Jewelers Mutual, who provided one of the most informative seminars, according to the attendees. “Sue’s presentation was very informative. She kept the audience involved during her presentation. If I had been able to hear only this one seminar, I would have profited from my attendance,” stated one attendee.

Georgia Jewelers Convention a hit

If you missed the Georgia Jewelers Association (GJA) State Convention this fall you missed a great event. Held at beautiful Brasstown Valley Resort in the north Georgia Mountains Sept. 19-21, the weather could not have been more perfect. The event had great turn out, wonderful speakers and fabulous jewelry entered in the 2008 Design Contest. The release of GJA’s 2008-2009 yearbook was timed to coincide with the meeting. A golf tournament in the most splendid of surroundings, and great barbecue cooked and served by the GJA board members rounded out a great opportunity to be inspired, and refresh and renew friendships.

(BIRMINGHAM, Ala.) - In honor of our nation’s veterans this holiday season, Start-to-Finish, LLC (STF) is donating $10 for each bracelet a store buys to Wounded Warrior Project (WWP). The Wounded Warrior Project is a nonprofit organization that provides comfort and aid to severely injured service men and women returning from military conflicts abroad and serves to raise awareness and enlist the public’s aid to support the warrior’s needs.
