(ATLANTA) – Jewelers are talking about the semi-annual Atlanta Jewelry Show – and with good reason. From the unsurpassed SJTA U educational series to the popular SJTA Rewards program to free gas, free breakfast and a terrific buyer gala, there is no show in the industry that does more for its attendees than this one.
Returning to the Cobb Galleria Centre from March 5-7, 2011, the spring Atlanta Jewelry Show gives retailers even more to talk about with new initiatives and features like the first annual Torch Awards Design Competition, a Motown-themed Gala, and more product resources to explore than ever before.
“Communication is key to the continued growth and success of the Atlanta Jewelry Show,” says Carol Young, executive director, Southern Jewelry Travelers Association (SJTA), producers of the Atlanta Jewelry Show. “Our relationship with independent jewelers is our backbone and we’re always looking for ways to help them grow their businesses. So we talk regularly with jewelers, and their feedback guides us in bringing together the best possible combination of services, products and business development opportunities. We think they’ll like what they see when they arrive for the March 2011 Show.”
Spring 2011 highlights
Scott “Nametag Guy” Ginsberg headlines SJTA U Seminar Series
Meet Scott Ginsberg anytime, anywhere, and he will be wearing his trademark nametag. For the past 10 years, Scott has never been without it, because for him the nametag is a metaphor for “approachability.” In this era of engagement, Scott recognizes that a nametag is a wonderful tool for interaction. It makes it easy for people to come to you.
Headlining the Spring Atlanta Jewelry Show line-up, Ginsberg will lead the SJTA U Keynote Presentation, “Make A Name For Yourself,” on Sunday, March 6 from 9-10:30 am. As an “approachability expert,” Scott has turned approachability into a science and has been featured in countless media outlets, including 20/20, CNN, USA Today, and The Wall Street Journal. During his entertaining and insightful presentation, Ginsberg will teach retailers daily practices about branding, consistency and commitment to help them not only make a name for themselves, but also how to take their name to the bank too! Other programs will touch on a wide range of topics including appraisals, visual merchandising strategies, stone setting tips, eliminating old inventory, starting and developing an estate business and more.
In addition, the full-scale program makes it even easier for retailers to obtain SJTA Certified Jeweler Status – a designation that lets area customers know that a store is truly committed to ongoing education and quality customer service. To achieve SJTA Certified Jeweler status, retailers must attend two Atlanta Jewelry Shows per year and at least two seminars during each show, for a total of four seminars a year. To maintain status, the retailer must then attend one Atlanta Jewelry Show per year and a minimum of two seminars a year.
First Annual Torch Awards
Design Competition
To showcase the design talents of bench jewelers/designers across the nation, the Atlanta Jewelry Show has launched the first annual Torch Awards Design Competition. All state jewelry associations are invited to participate by submitting the winners of their own 2010 state-wide design competitions. Entries will be on display during the March 2011 Atlanta Jewelry Show and attending buyers will vote for the Best of Show winner.
First-time exhibitors,

Walking the show floor, retailers will be able to see the newest introductions and popular best-sellers in nearly 500 booths covering virtually every product category, including antique jewelry, bridal, charms, designer jewelry, diamonds, earrings, gold, pearls, platinum, sterling jewelry, tools, watches and much more. In addition, the Spring Show will welcome a number of first-time exhibitors who will bring even more new resources to the selection. Retailers can also get a first-hand look at a wide array of cutting edge designs in the special Point of View: A Designer Gallery section of the show.
