Jewelers of Louisiana mourns the passing of two outstanding women


It is with great sadness that Jewelers of Louisiana President Ira Savioe announces the passing of  two outstanding Jewelers of Louisiana members.

Donna Dyson, co-owner of Family Jewelbox in Winnfield, LA, passed away at the age of 57 on June 1, 2013.  Mrs Dyson was born Wednesday, March 21, 1956 in Winnfield to Verlon W. Doherty and Garnell Thompson Doherty. She was preceded in death by her father, Verlon W. Doherty and her sister, Vicki Irene Doherty.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 38 years, Jesse E. Dyson; mother, Garnell Doherty; daughter, Erin Guin and her husband, Phillip; granddaughter, Sophia Paige Guin; sister, Phyllis Holmes and her husband Perry; and numerous nieces and nephews to whom she was very close. Memorials for Mrs. Dyson may be made to the Christus Cabrini Foundation Cancer Center, Patient Assistance Fund - 318-448-6580.

On May 2, 2013, Kenneth Hardy, jeweler for Jewelers of Louisiana member Abbeville-based Melancon’s Jewelers, lost his wife Petrecia “Stacie” Hardy, 49, who passed away at home surrounded by her family. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, aunt and most importantly, a loving grandmother who will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all those who knew her. Her contagious smile would light up any room.

Petrecia leaves to mourn, but  in God’s care, her husband, Kenneth Ray Hardy of Abbeville, LA; two daughters, Kimberly Hardy of Houston, TX and Jasmine Hardy and her fiancé Dustin of Thibodaux, LA; one son, Kenneth Ray Hardy, II of Lafayette, LA; stepdaughters, Shemeka Selders and her husband AJ of Baton Rouge, LA and Roshondra James of Houston, TX; one granddaughter, “Sugar Cookie” De’Leah Henry; her mother, Mary Ann L. Mouton of Abbeville, LA., and a large, extended family who will miss her dearly every day.
