24 Karat Club Southeastern US holds 39th annual Banquet


(ATLANTA) - The 24 Karat Club Southeastern United States (SEUS) hosted its 39th annual black-tie Banquet at the elegant Atlanta Country Club on August 3rd. The elite event was well attended with over 200 leaders of the jewelry industry and their guests enjoying an evening of networking and recognition. 

The night’s festivities began with the 24 Karat Club President’s Reception attended by Club officers and directors, new members and the evening’s honorees. All members and guests then enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at a pre-dinner cocktail party.

24K-Presidents-SeptAfter the singing of The Star Spangled Banner and the invocation, presented by Sandy Morrow, outgoing Club President Terry Chandler handed the gavel to newly elected President Robert Loving.

Loving, vice president of Time Delay Corporation, welcomed members and guests to the event and announced the 2013-2014 slate of officers and board members.

Three new additions to the 24 Karat Club were then introduced. The group of new members included: Melissa Becker, Assistant Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Berkley Asset Protection; Craig Danforth, AJP, GP, Director of Global Business Development, GIA; and Joseph Shapiro, co-owner The Edge by Abbott & Shapiro.

The awards presentation concluded with the announcement of the 24 Karat Club 2013 Jeweler of the Year. The prestigious honor was posthumously awarded to Mitchell “Mitch” James Mobley, The Mobley Company Jewelers, Villa Rica, GA. Mobley tragically lost his life during a robbery of his store in June. Newly-elected Club Secretary Randy Lindsey gave a moving tribute to Mobley noting his dedication to his family, community and the jewelry industry.

The presentation of awards was followed by dinner and dancing to the tunes of Band X. By all accounts the evening was a huge success with fun and camaraderie enjoyed by all who attended.
