Award-wining designer and metalsmith Brenda Smith, is pleased to announce her new Black ‘n Gold ‘n Diamonds Collection.
This edgy, contemporary collection was inspired while performing small-scale blacksmithing. Brenda was cutting sheet steel with a torch and decided to cut a traditional, teardrop jewelry shape for earrings. After burning holes into the steel cutouts, she dapped them into a concave form, placed ear wires on the drops, and highlighted areas with gold paint. Thinking the design was quite interesting, she wore them for several days and received all positive comments. That was the beginning of the collection.
The goal was to create a contemporary line that is affordable, collectible, fun and unique. That meant using sterling silver for the metal. She oxidized it since it will oxidize anyway. The pieces are highlighted in 14k yellow gold for contrast and diamond melee for additional dimension and value. The new collection consists of an assortment of unique rings, earrings, bracelets and pendants. Some pieces have additional genuine colored gemstone accents. Choices are white or blue topaz, citrine, pearl, peridot, garnet and amethyst. Retail prices range from $200-$2000.
“I am proud of this line because it satisfies a need for an edgy contemporary designer look at an affordable price,” said Brenda. “There is nothing quite like it. It is another in my collections of ‘the jewelry of fine art.’”
