IGI offering Ion Beam Table Branding in addition to Laserscribe services

July 1, 2010

(NEW YORK) – IGI has announced it will add Ion Beam Table Branding to its list of state-of-the-art offerings, marking the first time the service is available in the United States through an independent laboratory. IGI Ion Beam Table Branding, available via the New York Laboratory, was created in response to client demand and overall industry need. IGI officially launched the service at JCK Las Vegas.

IGI’s Ion Beam Table branding is a United States patented procedure that allows companies to permanently affix their trademarks, logos, brands or photos onto the table (upper largest facet) of a polished diamond. Through the use of focused ion beam technology, a clear brand image is visible under magnification; and when using a specialized viewer, a three dimensional holographic image can be seen by the consumer.

“With the continued rise in popularity of branded jewelry lines, IGI is pleased to provide U.S. jewelers a way to individually brand their diamond jewelry,” stated IGI President and CEO Jerry Ehrenwald.

In addition to Ion Beam Table Branding, Laserscribe is another U.S. patented service IGI provides in which a laser beam inscribes a diamond identification number (DIN), personal message, trademark or logo on the side (girdle) of a diamond or on an article of jewelry. The inscription is invisible to the naked eye, does not harm the stone and is permanent unless the diamond is repolished. In addition to diamonds, colored gemstones, gold, platinum and silver can also be inscribed.

For further details regarding IGI services, please contact Heather Hanson at 212-753-7100, ext. 3357 or hhanson@igi-usa.com.
