Caitríona Balfe graces the latest cover of Only Natural Diamonds as the highly anticipated Outlander series finale premieres this week. Reflecting on the final season and the legacy of Claire Fraser—the role that has defined a remarkable chapter of her career and captivated audiences worldwide—the model-turned-actor shares an intimate conversation on themes of time, transformation, and permanence, both onscreen and in her personal life.

As she looks back on more than a decade of filming Outlander, Balfe reflects on how portraying a character who lives across centuries has shaped her perspective on time. “I do think just getting older, you’re sort of more aware of time past and what’s ahead,” she says.
Throughout the cover story, Balfe shares her appreciation for craftsmanship and heritage design. “I’ve always been a huge collector and fan of vintage and antique pieces, whether it’s furniture, jewelry, or clothes,” she explains, noting her admiration for pieces that last. “These are legacy brands that have real craftspeople at their center, and it’s such a beautiful thing to be able to be adorned.”
From unforgettable red carpet looks to deeply personal pieces, jewelry becomes a form of self-expression for Balfe. She recalls the emotional significance behind her engagement ring from her husband: “It meant so much to me that he went and chose these different elements and then made them something very new.”
Balfe also reflects on how her relationship with fashion and jewelry has evolved. “It’s become about enjoying the experience—beautiful clothes, beautiful jewelry, interesting people. It’s play. And play is important.”
Some of her earliest memories of diamonds trace back to childhood. “Mom has a beautiful, very kind of 1950s three-stone diamond engagement ring. As a kid, I always wanted to put it on. Every time she would make bread, she would take it off and leave it in the windowsill, and I would try to steal it,” she says with a laugh.
For Balfe, diamonds carry meaning beyond visual appeal. “You put diamonds on, and you sort of feel, there is something with the energy of the stone, it sparkles, and you feel like you sparkle. I think it is beautiful.”
Photographed exclusively by Jackie Kursel and styled by Jermaine Daley, Balfe stuns in natural diamond jewelry from Anita Ko, For Future Reference Vintage, Marli, Van Cleef & Arpels, and more, paired with fashion from Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein, and others.
The cover story captures Balfe at a moment of transition, looking back on an iconic role while embracing what comes next. Formed by pressure over time, to tell stories that span generations.
