Cole’s passion for gems, minerals, and geology began at an early age while growing up with a gemologist parent in Utah. Early exposure to the gemstone industry inspired a lifelong pursuit of knowledge and discovery. After serving a two-year mission in Guatemala, where he experienced active volcanoes and earthquakes firsthand, Cole went on to study geology at Brigham Young University and started his gemological training through the Gemological Institute of America (GIA).

Cole’s work focuses on gemstone identification and analysis using advanced instruments. He has also researched the determination of sapphire origin. Currently working toward completion of his GIA Graduate Gemologist credential, Cole is passionate about advancing the science of gemology through continued research, innovation, and discovery.
The AGA Scholarship provides financial assistance to deserving students pursuing gemological education and supports the Association’s mission of promoting excellence, ethics, and continued learning within the gem and jewelry industry.
