Let me ask you a question – why did you open your jewelry business? Financial freedom, time freedom, or that you wanted a better life for your family? You had a passion for jewelry design and decided to follow and take it to the next level? You were tired of working for another jeweler and thought you could do it better on your own?
Perhaps one of the biggest reasons I hear from many small business owners and entrepreneurs is that they wanted to live life on their terms and not someone else’s. As a matter of fact, this was one of my own driving motivators to create my own jewelry store.
Now fast forward several years – this business you’ve created has taken off (hopefully) and now you’re frustrated because of budgeting, inventory, time constraints and a host of other things. Quite literally, you may be feeling like you’re walking around chained to your own Frankenstein or in other words, you’ve bought and chained yourself to another job!
Have I painted a picture of how many of you are probably feeling? I know this because this is the way my wife and I began feeling about our business many years ago. So, what can you do about it? Let me “liberate” your thinking and remove some “mind trash” that many of you are suffering from.
Since forming the “Ultimate Jewelers Mastermind” group several years ago and privately coaching many jewelers in “Success Principles”, this is something I hear far too often. So what do you do about it? I’m so glad you asked…
Please let the following statement tunnel it’s way into your conscious as well as subconscious mind: “You are the king or queen of your jewelry business and you should build and design ‘It’ so that ‘It’ best serves you!” You’ve never heard it put quite that way have you? Let me elaborate just a little bit more.
Build your jewelry store so that it serves you to the fullest, so that you may serve your clients to the fullest. It’s your life and your journey – you can’t serve anyone to the fullest if you’re sick, tired and stressed out. Close on Mondays, take the extra day off, adjust your store’s schedule and hours and trust me, your clients will adapt to it. As a matter of fact, I’ve discovered that “scarcity creates demand” and the less available we are, the more our clients seek us out.
OK, I just heard the chain break for many of you. Today start taking the necessary steps to become your store’s “King or Queen” – you’ll be much happier and successful for it!
